Export to CSV, ODS, XLS, XSLX

Currently, CryptPad sheet documents export to a .bin file which is not usable in other spreadsheet applications or in CryptPad itself, when re-uploaded back into CryptPad.

[REQUEST] CryptPad sheet should be exportable to standard spreadsheet formats such as CSV, ODS, XLSX, or XLS, to be usable.

Just saw this message while doing File > Export on a CryptPad Sheet document.

"Your browser cannot handle conversion to and from office formats. We suggest using a recent version of Firefox or Chrome."

Is this why I don't see option to export to CSV, ODS, XLS, XSLX?

This would be unfair to those users who prefer to use the Tor browser and would not want to use Firefox or Chrome, to retain their privacy.

Thanks for reaching out and for your interest in CryptPad!

We aren't restricting some functionalities to a specific set of web browsers. Exporting leverage a small web assembly compiled JavaScript program that is downloaded by your web browser so the export is made locally. That's the only way to guarantee privacy and not rely on the server for this task.

Sadly, Tor Browser block this functionality by default. To unlock it you have to switch the security level of the browser from Safe to Standard. Please see the screenshots below:

By clicking "Change..." you are taken into the general settings of Tor Browser, you can then switch to Standard level and reload your CryptPad tab.

Now the export functionality should be fully working.
