Many services and open source projects already exists, offering chat group functionalities. The best one for your privacy is Signal.

We don't want to compete with them, as they are very good at what they do, already offering an excellent service. Trying to go there would be a waste of time and resources we don't have.

Regarding external notifications, it's something we have in mind. See the discussion on this GitHub issue: Email notifications #1047.

First of all I really appreciated your reply :-) Thanks.Let me explain a bit further as I have checked out both answers.I have this dream of a 3D chat function which allows you to focus and have a meaningful result which summarizes contributions.It takes a special mind to make sense out of the Signal/WA ...typical discussions where unrelated content or detais are often leading astray.Imagine a 3 D (or more as it's just a brainstorm) discussionUp/Down, timeline where the discussion evolves like it was a document.Left/Right, branching out in unrelated/appreciations (not informative but nice) and spinn-offsZ-order deepening (explanations, examples etc).Anyway thats maybe to come yet, but an improvement of google comments features with a ping system for letting people now about new activity/replies could be realistic.What do you think?R.
