I’ve been testing CryptPad as a lightweight way to publish research notes and share them with people who do not need editing access.
The workflow is convenient: create a Markdown or rich-text document, generate a read-only link, and send that link directly to readers. For privacy-sensitive work, this model is especially attractive because the document remains encrypted while collaboration and sharing are still straightforward.
One issue I’m trying to understand better is how external links behave in read-only documents. In some cases, readers may need to follow references to external resources, datasets, or related tools. I noticed there have been discussions about clickable links in read-only files, so I’m curious about the current recommended setup.
For people using CryptPad to publish technical notes, research summaries, or documentation, it would also be useful to know whether there are best practices for:
Keeping documents readable in view-only mode
Making external references easy to access
Sharing documents without requiring readers to log in
Choosing between Rich Text and Code/Markdown for public-facing notes
Managing long-lived share links
I’d be interested to hear how others are using CryptPad for this kind of publishing workflow, and whether there are any limitations I should keep in mind.
