How to use certbot to get SSL certificates?

Hey!

I was just wondering how to get SSL to work with my CryptPad instance. The current Nginx config isn't really working for that since it already requires the SSL certs to work and with the standalone setting Certbot is still complaining about 404 errors. What should I do?

Thanks for reaching out and for your interest in CryptPad.

I personally don't know much about Certbot & prefer to use acme.sh. It supports numerous certificate authorities and is very easy to setup.

certbot is the original python script for handling letsencrypt certificates. It used to be packaged for distributions (for example in debian and ubuntu). It is now deprecated by Letsencrypt. acme.sh is clearly the way to go as said by Mathilde. It is really easy to set up (just get one script and it is done).

What I've meant to say is I'm much more competent regarding acme.sh setup than Certbot, which is still very actively maintained: https://github.com/certbot/certbot. But I didn't wanted to be dismissive of the latter in any way.

If you have still need help please ask, be specific about what you did so far and what isn't working as intended. 🙌🏻
