Hello,
Thanks for your interest in CryptPad!
HollyHoller I have seen Onlyoffice mentioned in a few places, particularly in the public roadmap. Is CP based on Onlyoffice? Is it basically Onlyoffice but with the e2ee layered on top?
CryptPad integrates a modified version of OnlyOffice for the Spreadsheet application. As well as the early-access Document & Presentation ones. Otherwise, the other ones are either completely home-made or based on some well known open source libraries like Codemirror, CKEditor, PDFjs, etc.
HollyHoller CryptPad weirdly doesn't have a wikipedia page. If I want to be able to spread the word that's a pretty important thing to be able to point folks to. I was thinking about trying to write one (or at least a stub) myself but... there doesn't seem to be any articles anywhere about Cryptpad to use as citation. The closest thing I could find was this very blogy feeling post on Mideum: https://medium.com/writers-blokke/cryptpad-an-encrypted-google-docs-alternative-91f480dfb6a9. Anyone know of any non blog/non primary source articles?
Sadly there isn't many articles that aren't from blog out here, a good search engine will help you find some of them but alas, we didn't got as much interest to have been fully featured in newspapers. However, some of them, like the very popular french one, LeMonde, mentioned us (in french, sorry) and use our services (in french again, sorry)... Also our privacy engineers, wrote multiple research papers on CryptPad tho. Would that qualify for Wikipedia?
Have a good day!
